Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nelson Akafuah
Nelson Akafuah is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Fujio Cho Department of Engineering Technology at the University of Kentucky. He also serves as the director of the Institute of Research for Technology Development (IR4TD).
Nelson earned a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky. He also holds an Executive MBA from the Jack Welch Management Institute at Strayer University, a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of New Orleans, and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Science and Technology in Kumasi, Ghana.
Throughout his career, Nelson has held several technical and management positions. These include serving as a project engineer at KITE, an energy consulting firm in Kumasi, and as a mechanical engineer at General Electric Power Systems in Schenectady, New York. He has also been the Associate Director of IR4TD.
Nelson's research focuses on various aspects of paint processes for automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and Tier One suppliers. He is dedicated to implementing systems and tools that enhance energy efficiency, improve overall performance, and increase operational quality and productivity through lean manufacturing principles.
Strong connections to family and community are vital to Nelson and his professional work. He is passionate about helping others achieve their dreams and is guided by a commitment to serving his students and helping them envision a possible future.
Dr. Adhi Setyo Santoso
Dr. Adhi Setyo Santoso is a Vice Rector for Academics, Research, and Innovation at President University, a leading English-Speaking University recognized with Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Top Universities - 5 Stars Rating. He is also an Associate Professor in Innovation Management, Entrepreneurship, and Digital Business who has extensive experience teaching and mentoring entrepreneurship and innovation-related courses across leading Indonesian institutions from Bachelor, Master, to PhD level. Adhi earned his doctoral degree in Strategic Management from the University of Indonesia and has international academic exposure through MBA programs at Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) and the University of Southern California, USA. Recognized as Indonesia’s Most Outstanding Lecturer in 2019, his work and publications explore disruptive business models, platforms, and digital entrepreneurship.
Datin Lorela Chia
Datin Lorela Chia is a respected strategist and ecosystem builder known for connecting policy, industry, and social impact through purposeful systems thinking. With over two decades of experience spanning trade facilitation, SME transformation, and sustainable industrial development, she brings structure and clarity to complex national and sectoral challenges.
Her work has long intersected with the machinery and engineering sectors —where she leads the design of transformation roadmaps, public–private programmes, and strategic frameworks that advance industry maturity, productivity, and ecosystem readiness.
Rooted in Malaysia and shaped by cross-border engagements in over 20 countries across five continents, she draws from decades of global marketing and B2B platform development — anchored by an early foundation in GR8 Dreams, a boutique firm that enabled trade and industry engagement across Asia and beyond. She brings a cosmopolitan perspective grounded in real-world industry experience, systems-level insight, and an understanding of technology’s role in enabling sustainable transformation.
Dr. Juliana Lim
Dr. Juliana Lim champions ISO/IEC 17024 Certification of Persons, advancing upskilling, cross-skilling, and reskilling to enhance workforce capability and global recognition. She is the Founder and Managing Director of IPEC Bureau, a Certification Body accredited by the Department of Standards Malaysia under the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), established with the vision of making competency recognition more credible, accessible, and globally relevant.
In 2015, she launched the “Are You Certified?” ISO/IEC 17024 awareness campaign in conjunction with Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship, as part of a broader mission to promote ASEAN’s free movement of skilled workers. Through this initiative, she advocates accessible competency standards that support greater recognition, talent mobility, and shared advancement across the region, echoing the aspiration of “ONE ASEAN AND GLOBAL RECOGNITION FOR ALL.”
In advancing regional collaboration, she led the APEC Capacity Building on ISO/IEC 17024 Certification of Persons to Support People-to-People Connectivity and Talent Mobility in 2019, bringing together 21 APEC economies, where standards became not merely a technical framework, but a bridge connecting people and opportunity. Her current work also spans Sabah’s Blue Economy agenda, bringing strategic quality infrastructure perspectives aligned with global standardisation, certification, and evolving trade priorities shaped by the World Trade Organization and the World Bank. She positions standards not merely as technical requirements, but as enablers of talent mobility, economic resilience, and regional cooperation.
Dr. Vanita Kshirsagar
Dr. Vanita Kshirsagar is an Associate Professor in the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science at Dr. D. Y. Patil Institute of Technology, India. With over 21 years of academic, administrative, and research experience, she brings a balanced perspective that integrates teaching excellence, institutional leadership, and applied artificial intelligence research.
Her work focuses on advancing intelligent systems that bridge data-driven technologies with real-world societal challenges. She has authored more than 20 research publications in reputed international journals and conferences indexed in Scopus, including several SCI-ranked journals, reflecting her sustained contribution to high-impact research. She has also served as an Editor for a CRC Press publication, contributing to global academic knowledge dissemination.
Dr. Kshirsagar’s expertise spans Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Data Science, and emerging domains of Artificial Intelligence, with research interests centered on AI-driven healthcare analytics, mental health prediction, and intelligent decision-support systems.
Beyond research and teaching, she has played significant institutional leadership roles, including NAAC Coordinator and Autonomy Coordinator, contributing strategically to quality assurance, academic governance, and institutional development initiatives.
An active mentor and academic contributor, she has guided numerous undergraduate and postgraduate projects, co-supervised research scholars, and served as a reviewer for reputed international journals and conferences. Her work reflects a strong commitment to nurturing future technologists while promoting responsible and impactful adoption of AI technologies.
Dr. Kshirsagar continues to contribute to interdisciplinary research, academic innovation, and the development of AI solutions aimed at sustainable and human-centered technological advancement.
Dr. Sachin Untawale
Dr. Sachin Untawale has more than 34 years of extensive experience in engineering education, academic administration, research, and institutional development. He is currently serving as the Director of G.H. Raisoni College of Engineering, Nagpur, & Chief Executive Officer of Raisoni Education, where he plays a significant role in strengthening quality systems, academic excellence, and institutional growth. His professional objective focuses on creating a strong ecosystem of quality assurance through accreditations and academic excellence, leading teams of professionals for institutional development, and undertaking challenging responsibilities that contribute to meaningful outcomes in higher education.
Dr. Untawale holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, a Master of Engineering (M.E.) in Mechanical Engineering, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA). His multidisciplinary academic background has enabled him to combine technical expertise with managerial and leadership capabilities in higher education administration.
Over the years, he has received several recognitions and certifications for his academic and professional contributions. He received the Best Paper Award at an International Conference on Mechanical, Automobile, and Robotics Engineering held in Dubai. He is also an IRCA Certified Lead Auditor, having completed the Lead Auditor Course conducted by URS Inspection Limited and CMC International (UK) Ltd. Additionally, he was awarded Dr. Radhakrishnan Bharat Shiksha Award, New Delhi for his leadership contribution to education.
Dr. Untawale is actively associated with many professional bodies. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India) (FIE), a Senior Member of IEEE, and a Life Member of the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE). He has also made significant contributions to various government and academic committees. He is a Member of Task Force of Govt. of Maharashtra for preparation of 5 year Perspective Plan
of Technical Education based on National Education Policy. He serves as a Tier-I and Tier-II Evaluator for the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi, and has been nominated by the University Grants Commission (UGC) as an Expert Member for Autonomy Review Committees.
He is a Senate Member of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University and Standing Committee Member of RTMNU. He has also worked as Local Enquiry Committee and Staff/Principal Selection Committees of the University and has contributed as a member of committees under the Technical Education Quality Improvement Program (TEQIP) of the Government of India and Academic Audit Committees.
As a doctoral research supervisor, Dr. Untawale has guided several scholars who have successfully completed their Ph.D. research. He has also been instrumental in attracting major research funding and institutional development grants from national agencies. These include
AICTE-NAFETIC funding in collaboration with Siemens worth ₹1 crore, a DST-funded Technology Business Incubator worth ₹14 crore, an AVEVA Centre of Excellence worth ₹5 crore, DST-NIDHI programs, PARIS-SPARSH scheme of the Government of Maharashtra, SARTHI funding, and DST-FIST funding, among others.
Dr. Untawale has an impressive research publication record. His work is widely indexed in major academic databases. According to Web of Science, he has 18 publications with 393 citations. On Scopus, he has 30 publications with 409 citations while Google Scholar records 44 publications with 776 citations. Through his long academic career, Dr. Untawale has contributed significantly to quality assurance, research promotion, academic leadership, and institutional excellence in technical education.
